전설의 미국, Shea stadium 공연입니다. 전체 다는 물론 아니고 - 일부죠 -

 

부부젤라보다 더한 소녀들의 함성소리 - 실신해서 실려나가고 - 마이클 잭슨때의 그 모습의 원조는 바로

비틀즈 때인 듯 합니다. 존 레논이 당시 우스개처럼 말했다죠.  하느님보다 우리가 더 유명하다고 - ㅎㅎㅎ

 

감격에 겨워 우는 청중들의 심정이 이해가 갑니다. 항상 라디오로, 전축(!) 으로만 듣고 따라 흥얼거렸던

그 노래를, 그 가수가 직접 자기 눈 앞에서 연주하고 웃어주고 있으니 그 감격이란 말할 수 없이 크겠죠.

 

그 감격의 시작은 아마도 공연 콘서트 티켓을 살 때부터 시작되었을 겁니다. 일주일 전, 6일전,5일전,

4일전, 3일전, 공연 날짜가 하루하루 다가오고, 밤에 잠을 자면서 이제 며칠 후면 직접

볼 수 있다고 하루하루 날짜를 헤아리던 그 때부터 가슴의 고동은 점점 더 크게 울리기 시작했을 거에요.

 

달리기 시작 총성이 울리기 전 화장실 가고 싶어지는 그 마음같은 것~!

 

마침내 그 기대과 긴장이 몇 백 기압의 압력으로 심장에 가득 찼을 때 마침내~!!!

공연장에 드럼소리와 기타소리가 가득차고 그들이 눈 앞에 나타나는 거죠 -

그리고 잘 때도, 걸을 때도, 친구들과 놀 때도, 슬펐을 때도 늘상 들었던, 따라 불렀던 그 노래가

실시간으로 내 귀에 울러펴지는 거죠. 그런데 - 어떻게 울지 않을 수가 있겠어요??

 

여럿이서 같이 샤우팅하면서 부르는 저 비틀즈만의 창법은 그들의 무명 시절로 넘어갑니다.

허름한 바에서 날라드는 술병을 피하기 위해 철조망을 관객과의 사이에 두고 노래하던 그 시절,

술손님들의 소리에다가 마이크 질은 형편없이 떨어져서 자신들의 노랫소리가 파묻혔죠.

손님들의 잡담소리와 고성방가에 묻히지 않기 위해 고육지책으로 생각해 낸 방법이 바로

'떼창' 이었던 거라고 하네요.

저 영상 속에는 비틀즈의 청춘이 담겨 있기도 하지만 - 아마도 저 관중 속에 끼여서 함께 감격해하던

어느 누군가의 청춘도 담겨 있겠죠.

혹은 저기 가고 싶어하며 안달 복달했었던 어느 누군가의 청춘이 담겨 있을 수도 -

 1969년 비틀즈는 애플레코드사에서 Let It Be를 녹음하다 즉흥적인 아이디어로

자기네들 레코드사 옥상에서 공연을 갖기로 합니다.  EMI 건물이죠.

이건 Rooftop Live 라고 불리기도 합니다. 아주 인상적인 해프닝으로 기록되고 있습니다.
